Subject type:
Basic Education
Module:

1. General information
The subject contributes to: (1) To develop the idea of representation in the field of artistic practice and its linkage and alliances with other fields of knowledge; (2) To develop skills related to the perception, organization and representation of form in space, determinants in all artistic creation and project activity. (3) To act creatively using the minimum of resources and the maximum clarity and graphic quality to achieve effective constructive and representative solutions; (4) To know and understand the main fundamentals of metric geometry to solve problems of shape configuration in the plane.
These approaches and objectives are aligned in a cross-cutting manner with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/): 4. Quality Education; 5. Gender Equality. 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities
2. Learning results
The subject addresses and develops the basic principles and processes of perception, functionality and structure of form in space and its representation. This knowledge is useful for any discipline within the Fine Arts and all the professional profiles associated with the degree. In order to pass this subject, the student must demonstrate the following results:
-
Argue their own productions from the knowledge of the geometric foundations of form in nature and in the arts.
-
Solve geometric problems in the plane graphically and efficiently.
-
Demonstrate fluency and correctness in the use of the sketch as a tool for graphic representation of three-dimensional space oriented to a creative purpose.
-
Distinguish and explain the main types of projections, their structure and their relationship with the different systems of representation.
-
Value technical drawing as an auxiliary and creative tool based on the knowledge of its fundamentals and rules.
3. Syllabus
Block I / Systems of Representation and Artistic Practice
-
Introduction to the concept of representation in the field of Fine Arts.
-
Geometry in nature and in human arts and techniques.
-
Geometric shapes in artistic practice.
Block II / Plane Geometry
-
Instruments and materials for the realization of geometric tracings.
-
Basic concepts and layouts of plane geometry.
Block III / Descriptive Geometry
-
Principles and object of descriptive geometry and properties of representation systems.
-
Introduction to standardized representation.
4. Academic activities
The program offers the contents and tools necessary for the students to achieve the learning results foreseen in the subject through the following activities:
-
Theoretical-practical exposition: It includes theoretical explanations, practical demonstrations, problems and cases, exercise resolution and artistic references.
-
Solving of practical exercises Complementary activity to the theoretical and practical presentations.
-
Development of a personal project. Creation of an original artistic project based on the idea of representation that integrates the contents of the program.
The complexity of the proposed exercises will be adapted to the knowledge and progress detected in the students.
5. Assessment system
The achievement of the learning results and the acquisition of competencies will be evaluated during the term by the Continuous Evaluation System.

Ordinary call [1st and 2nd]: Overall Test
Theoretical-practical global test that will consist of solving problems and cases. The evaluation criteria to be considered will be the following: (1) Correctness in the layout; (2) Correct argumentation of the foundations and theoretical elements that support the different constructions and representations; (3) Cleanliness, clarity and precision in the execution of the exercises and activities; (4) Initiative and creativity and ability to collaborate in the search for solutions to the problems posed and in the proposals made.
_______
GLOBAL TEST
All students are entitled to a global test to pass the subject or to improve the grade obtained Students attending the exam must be punctual on the day and at the time indicated in the exam notice, otherwise they will be considered as "No Show".
SECOND CALL
The evaluation in the second call, to which all students who have not passed the subject will be entitled, will be carried out by means of a global test to be taken during the period established for this purpose by the Governing Council in the academic calendar
